Art Therapist. Workshop Facilitator. Mentor. Artist.
About Me
As a Creative Arts Therapist and Artist with years of experience in the mental health and disability sector, I am committed to utilising the power of art to promote well-being and healing in individuals. I received my Masters in Art Therapy from Latrobe University and completed my Honours in Fine Arts from Monash University.
My practice is grounded in a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, which allows me to collaborate with clients and support them in using the art process as a tool for self-exploration, self-expression, and meaning-making. Drawing from my decades of meditation practice, passion for dance and movement, and holistic approach, I facilitate an inclusive and supportive environment that honours each client's unique journey.
In addition to my work as an art therapist, I also maintain a personal creative practice by working from the Shakespeare Grove Artist studios in St Kilda and exhibiting regularly. I believe that everyone has the capacity for creativity and that exploring and expressing one's artistic voice can lead to a deeper understanding of oneself and the world around us.
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression as a way to explore and address emotional and psychological issues. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in making art can be therapeutic and healing for individuals, especially when verbal communication is difficult or inadequate. Through the use of various art materials and techniques, individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a safe and supportive environment with the guidance of a trained Art Therapist. Art Therapy can be used with people of all ages and backgrounds and can address a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
